Meeting Organized by Karnataka State WASH Coalition

 

A state-wide meeting was organized by Karnataka State WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) Coalition on September 18, 2021 to discuss and agree upon the identity and legal status of Karnataka Wash Coalition; identify, discuss and agree sub sector wise focus area; discuss and agree lead persons for each sub sector and to develop next three months action plan.

The meeting was attended by representatives from NGOs, Corporate Development Partners in addition to Heads of relevant departments. The meeting was presided over by Mr LK Atheeq, IAS, Principal Secretary, PR &RD chaired the meeting.

On behalf of ACIWRM, Mr MS Raviprakash, Principal Coordinator, Capacity Building participated in the meeting. The following challenges were flagged at the meeting for consideration:

  • - Source sustainability to ensure water supply on a continuous basis
  • - Water quality (maintenance of water treatment and water purification plants)
  • - Focus on grey water treatment and reuse
  • - Water quality monitoring and disclosure Sharing of costs to meet the O&M expenses
  • - Meet the objectives of Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) under Jal Jeevan Mission
