Ms. Hafeezunnisa, joined the Water Resources Department in the year 2003 and has 17 years of experience in the water sector. She holds a master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering from Bengaluru University and started her career at the field level office and contributed towards survey, design and estimate of pickups & weirs.

Hafeezunnisa has been involved in submission of proposals for technical and financial clearances, preparation of estimates of irrigation system and restoration & rejuvenation of age-old tanks coming under Cauvery basin, drafting of tender proposals and estimation of crop water requirement of major projects under Cauvery basin using penman method.

She has worked on preparation of thematic & customised maps as per the requisition from project authorities and interstate water dispute cell, thematic maps on rejuvenation of Shimsha and Vedavathi sub basin, delineation of catchment area for a proposed point and related maps to evaluate the yield using empirical formulae to know the water availability for the proposed Industrial or Mini hydel projects at the point . Hafeezunnisa also worked on Thiessen polygon maps of catchment for arriving the Thiessen weights used for evaluating the weighted rainfall for the catchment. Preparation of Maps to support Probable Maximum Flood estimation, preparation of tentative alignments for diversion schemes in West flowing basin as per the requirement of project authorities for carrying out feasibility studies. Carried out comparison study for evaluating Runoff using SCS curve method and Empirical formulae for Kalghatgi Diversion scheme.

Hafeezunnisa joined ACIWRM in 2018 and worked on Draft State Water Policy-2019 and State Specific Action Plan on Climate Change (SSAPCC). She also participated in various trainings including Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), RAP MASSCOTE for assessing Canal Irrigation Systems applied to Malaprabha Canal System, River Basin Modeling using Source modelling platform and Water Accounting+.

Beside holding technical gradations like a Diploma in Civil Engineering from Directorate of Technical Education Bengaluru, Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering & Master degree in Water Resources Engineering from Bengaluru University, she also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Construction Management from Delhi Productivity Council, New Delhi.

She has submitted a project on design of Lift Irrigation Scheme (both on hydrology & electro mechanical) as part of her coursework and “Runoff Estimation (SCS Curve Method) and Quantitative Morphometric Analysis Using RS & GIS Techniques” for Hemavathy Catchment of Cauvery Basin as part of her thesis in Masters’. She has provided guidance to post graduate students for their thesis on Yagachi & Suvarnavathy Reservoir Catchment areas studies of Cauvery Basin, Crop pattern violation and Crop Water Requirement analysis for Basavanna Canal (Vijayanagar Channel System TB River) using RS and GIS Techniques. She has also contributed to Ph.D. researcher’s thesis work on Kabini Command area, which involved Morphometric Analysis, Runoff Estimation using SCS curve method, Hypsometry analysis, Soil Erosion estimation using USLE equation and has contributed towards National & International Technical Papers.
