A one-week training workshop in QGIS-Google Earth Engine (GEE) and Drone applications for water resources /irrigation is scheduled to be organized during August / September 2023 Karnataka Engineering Research Station (KERS), KR Sagara campus. This training workshop is catering to the demand of engineers from Irrigation (South) zone, CNNL, WRD and engineers from other zone offices. KERS and ACIWRM jointly evolved and agreed on a curriculum for the same, to provide practical hands-on experience to the trainee engineers.
The curriculum includes Essential QGIS for Water Resources, Advanced QGIS for Water Resources, Applications of Google Earth Engine in Water Resources, Drone Survey and DGPS, etc.
The Faculty Resource Persons will be drawn from ACIWRM and KERS staff. Two external faculty with specific experience on GEE applications in water will be hired. The detailed schedule is attached here.
KWRIS USER TRAINING WORKSHOP
ACIWRM had developed a unified portal for water resources data drawn from various departments/agencies and populated several years of hydro-meteorological data, reservoir inflow-outflow data, soil moisture and evapotranspiration data using remote sensing, etc. KWRIS also has a spatial data library for use by the engineers and officers of other departments.
ACIWRM is now organising several 2 day hands-on training workshop for the engineers of various zones of WRD and Nigams to provide insights into the capabilities and use of the KWRIS.
